Author's notes: siigh I had really wanted to finish my fic based on I need u but it ended up too long and I couldn't finish on time sobs I hope this is good enough ;u;
Summary: taehyung tells jimin everything in the best way he can
“sometimes I think you’re all I need,” jimin whispers this against the valley of taehyung’s neck.
taehyung replies with willow-fingers through mahogany hair, “I could be.” it’s a promise that he is more than willing to keep.
jimin chuckles. but it is a hollow sound like autumn wind through ribs. he sits up straighter in between taehyung’s legs and daydreams a finger against the younger’s jawline, his eyes quiet and breath quieter.
“but I know that someday that you won’t come back anymore.” even though his voice is casual and light, taehyung can sense the quiver in that songbird voice. “and I’ll probably leave this place too.”
he takes taehyung’s larger hand in his, trailing a finger against the vines of taehyung’s palm, mapping the fields with irregular script.
“you’ll fall in love with the perfect girl and go somewhere far away,“ he continues, not meeting the younger’s eyes. "when that time comes, I’ll do my best to be happy for you. but,” his fingers slip like blades of grass weaving in the breathy spaces between taehyung’s. “for now, let me be selfish and pretend that I can have you forever.”
taehyung doesn’t answer. verbally at least.
instead he turns jimin to face him and tilts his chin up. his dark ebony eyes take in the trembling lips and streaming trails beneath fluttering eyelashes before they too close. he plants tender kisses like seeds on the plains of jimin’s perfect complexion, hoping that one day — in time — jimin could love himself as taehyung loves him.
